A Great Start to the Week!

Relief from the heat and humidity as moved into central Illinois to start off the new work week.  Highs were at or slightly below normal.  A very comfortable overnight will be in the forecast, so plan on giving the air conditioner a bit of a breather.

An upper level disturbance will bring shower and thunderstorm chances to central Illinois as early as late afternoon for our western counties.

Don't get used to the pleasant temperatures...a warm up back to the 90's will be upcoming later in the week.

Hottest Day of the Year??

Friday is setting up to be the hottest day of the year.  Although we won't be close to the record high for tomorrow, we could see the hottest temp so far for the year.

Dangerous heat and humidity will continue into Saturday afternoon before a cold front moves into the region this weekend.

As previously mentioned, a cold front will push through the region on Saturday.  That will bring showers and storms to the area as early as Saturday morning.  Some of the storms later in the day could be strong to severe.

A Brief Cool Down!

A cold front has pushed down to the south, taking the high heat and humidity with it.

High pressure will settle in across the region for the next few days, leaving us high and dry for the weekend.

Don't get used to the break from the heat.  Oppressive conditions return to central Illinois as we wrap up the weekend, with highs in next week topping out in the low to mid 90's.

Less Muggy End of the Week

A cold front has pushed through the region, taking showers and thunderstorms, as well as high heat and opressive humidity with it.  Highs will be slightly lower for our Thursday, but humidity will be considerably lower.

Seasonable and comfortable temperatures will continue into Friday.

Heat and Storms

A heat advisory and excessive heat warning are in effect for most of central Illinois, as well as the threat for storms across the area.

Let's talk about the heat first.  The hottest air of the season will continue to hover around the Midwest as a cold front lingers off to our west.

We could see a few thunderstorms move through the area in the afternoon.  Any storms that develop could become strong, with gusty winds and heavy rain the primary threats.

Some relief from the high humidity will roll in on Thursday and Friday.

Hot and Stormy Tuesday

A warm front is pushing through the Midwest, sparking showers and storms to our west.  A hot and humid air mass will move into the area starting Tuesday.  A heat advisory is in effect for much of central Illinois for Tuesday afternoon.

Thunderstorms will also fire along the front for Tuesday.  Some of the storms could be on the stronger side...with gusty winds and potentially heavy rain.
